Welcome to Medellín, the "City of eternal spring". This is my hometown and today I´m going to share with you all you need to know if you come visit it.   I was born and grew up in Medellín, which is known as “the city of the eternal spring” because of its weather. Living here has given me the chance to explore many cultural and natural attractions that I'd like to share with you today…  Medellín is a vibrant city surrounded by green mountains. As a local, I have visited a lot of places, and living here taught me to appreciate our culture, the weather, and the people.

Travel tips

Take care of your belongings in crowded areas.    Compare prices before buying souvenirs; sometimes tourists pay more.  Wear comfortable shoes for walking tours and always bring an umbrella because the weather can change quickly.  Use the Metro during off-peak hours for a better experience. Always carry some cash.

What to do

Go to a typical restaurant to try out bandeja paisa.  Take a walk around local fruit markets like Plaza Mayorista to taste some fruits and buy some food.  Go to the ciclovia on the weekend.  Take a ride on the Metrocable to see the mountain views.  Hang out in Parque Lleras or La 70 to listen to music and have a drink.

When you come to Medellín, you should visit:  Comuna 13— It's known because it was once a dangerous neighborhood but now is a symbol of social transformation. The streets are colorful and full of graffiti art, and they give you tours explaining the history of this place.  El Castillo Museum— This is a castle with elegant gardens and art exhibits. You have to pay to enter there, but I assure you it is a wonderful experience and a beautiful place to have a picnic or take some pics.   Pueblito Paisa— A traditional Antioquia village replica located on top of Nutibara Hill.  Here you have a view of the whole city.  Botanical Garden— You can go there for free, and it is a peaceful place to enjoy nature, a butterfly house, and lots of space for you to walk, relax and eat.    The Metro - Basically, Medellín´s pride. It is a public transport system but I would say is clean and efficient. Anyway, taking a ride gives you panorami...
